This weeks supercar is a bit special, Jaguar only ever made 282 of them. Its the XJ220, one of the supercar pioneers of that illusive 200mph mark (also pop up headlights).
Jaguar are not really known for their supercars, however when they make one they make it very well. This is the successor of the Jaguar Sport XJR-15 and predecessor of the Jaguar C-X75, it was produced between 1992 and 1994 and as mentioned before there were only 282 ever made. The XJ220 started out as a concept and was not meant to be a production car to begin with, but following the interest shown from customers, Jaguar decided to go ahead with making it.
This car actually held the Guiness World Record for the fastest production car of all time. They had performed testing of the pre-production XJ220 in Texas in 1991 and recorded a top speed of 212.3 mph, which at the time was unheard of.
Now, we know the top speed and that it was the fastest car in the world but what about the rest of the figures? 0-60 in 3.6s, 474 lb/ft at 4500 rpm, V6 3.5L engine, four wheel drive and 543bhp.
Surely this is guaranteed to be a classic, it must cost you £1M to get one? Well, hopefully and no, you can actually get one for £400,000. That's a lot of money, but considering the fact that it used to hold the speed record I expected more. There you have it, don't forget if you buy one send me an E-mail and let me drive it would ya?
