Yes, you read that correctly. I think Elon's plan is to patent as many strange things until he actually has the technology to make it work, at least that's what I think anyway. Tesla's patent for lasers could be used on any glass surface, this could also include some of the home-building things Musk is involved in like cleaning the solar panel roof tiles they make. I suppose they could even be used on the sensors and lenses around a car as well. To be fair it sounds like a good idea, its just quite crazy when you first hear it, but we all know Tesla like to push the envelope of advancement in the car world.
If there was anyway this could prevent stone chips on a car I would be entirely on board, as mine has recently cracked and I am not a fan of the company my car insurance use to replace windows (and that £85 replacement cost for something that isnt my fault).
