The Italian M Cars

Updated: Jul 5, 2023

If we are talking about bonkers Italian car brands, there are plenty to choose from, but Alfa are coming for the crown with this one. The Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio is pretty nuts as it is, especially for a saloon; massive engine, enormous top speed, and torque that could pull a tractor. That wasn't enough for Alfa so they decided to make the GTA and GTAm, a race for the road spec Giulia (and something to aim the car media spotlight on Alfa once again).

Look how mean this is (GTAm), no longer do you have to buy a daily and a weekend car, just buy this. I actually don't care how much this costs, it looks phenomenal. The GTA and GTAm are similar, but the GTAm is more track-focused, equipped with roll bar, better aero, racing harness and fire extinguisher, it even has a little space for your race helmet.

The GTA uses a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 (from the Quadrifoglio), they didn't just leave at the same though. They cranked the horsepower up to 540 (35 more than the standard Quadrifoglio). They also managed to shave 220 pounds off the car, vastly improving the power to weight ratio. It also now manages to climb to 60 in just 3.6 seconds, that's supercar fast.

There is some slightly sad news in that they only plan to make 500 for the time being, if they rolled them out in mainstream production numbers I have no doubt the term M3 would be just a whisper in the wind.
