Zagato is an independent coachbuilding company based in Milan. Ugo Zagato (he would have no trouble getting that Instagram name) founded Zagato in 1919. Zagato has been around for 101 years, in this time they have worked with almost every car company out there, ranging from Rover to Bugatti.
What is a coachbuilder? A coachbuilder basically mean body-maker (not the same as body builder), the actual definition is - a company that manufactures bodies for passenger-carrying vehicles. Zagato originally started working on cars and aeroplanes but has slowly moved out of the aeroplane game to focus more on car design. In a way this a shame, as it would make planes look more exciting, however this move has helped solidify Zagato as a serious brand.
Zagato got into racing in the 20s, his first big partnership was with Alfa Romeo, he was asked to make bodies that were lighter than the ones Alfa already had. Zagato must have learnt about aerodynamics when he was building bodies for aeroplanes, so during the 30s he made sure that his bodies were more aerodynamic, integrating headlights into the body shape. These lessons that Zagato learnt helped establish it as a premium coachbuilding brand, making some of the most beautiful and interesting cars available.

My favourites have to be the Alfa Romeo SZ and the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake, check them out! I really like the way Zagato is run, everyone likes limited edition stuff, in this case its no different, in fact when it comes to cars exclusivity is extremely good for resale value, so buy one and keep hold of it and it will treat you write (I do not advise you to buy one, just in case you so and try to sue me).
